Several inmates were injured after a riot Wednesday, March 5th at California State Prison, Sacramento (CSP-SAC). At about 0955 hours several inmates on the A Facility began attacking each other. Several of these inmates were seen using inmate-manufactured weapons to stab other inmates. Responding staff utilized chemical agents and 40mm projectiles to quell the riot.
Five inmates were found with puncture wounds and were treated. Eleven (11) inmate-manufactured weapons were recovered from the scene.
In addition, CSP-SAC, in four separate incidents on March 5th, there were two officers battered by inmates, and two officers “gassed” by inmates. These attacks on peace officers have become routine business in CDCR and is often not reported on. The Toughest Beat would like to report on the daily staff attacks in CDCR, but we sadly do not have the resources at this time.
