On Monday, at approximately 1420, Inmates Andrew Espinoza, 29, and Frank Vasquez, 44, attacked Inmate Raul Medoza, 30. Two inmate-manufactured weapons were recovered from the scene.
Inmate Medoza sustained multiple puncture wounds. Staff initiated life saving measures, and Medoza was transported offsite for medical treatment, but died this Thursday as a result of his injuries. No staff were injured.
No staff were injured. Inmates Espinoza and Vasquez have been rehoused into Restricted Housing.
Vasquez was received from Tulare County on Dec. 1, 2015, and he was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and second-degree robbery. He also received enhancements for intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.
