We started The Toughest Beat to provide a place for information and communication sharing with correctional professionals and the need for education in this field. Only a few months into this, we were surprised at how many folks are reaching our site. After some talk, we decided to start a scholarship for those who want to help make positive change in the field of corrections.
We are working some things out, but soon we will announce a scholarship open to those who wish to pursue education in criminal justice, criminology, or correctional studies. I hope to be announcing our scholarship details soon.
Part of a scholarship is fundraising. We at The Toughest Beat did not want to ask for handouts, so we are working to provide something quality for sale with a portion of the proceeds going into the scholarship fund. This may take some time as we want something our readers would want, is of good value, and helps to raise funds. Once we get this ironed out, we will announce our idea.
