On April 24, 2024, Inmates Donan and Perez were observed repeatedly stabbing Inmate Paul Anguiano, 41, on the facility yard at CSP-SAC. Staff responded and had to use several less-lethal grenades to stop the attack. Staff provided life-saving care, and, despite several stab wounds, Inmate Anguiano survived.
On the same day, two officers at CSP-SEC were battered by inmates in separate instances. One attack was inside of the Restrictive Housing Unit and required the officer to use physical force to stop. The other battery on a peace officer occurred outside of the Restrictive Housing Unit and required several less-lethal force options to quell. In both cases staff incurred minor injuries.
