CDCR Correctional Officer sustains serious injury from an inmate attack

On August 20, 2024, Inmate Keith Price, 36, was in the Mule Creek State Prison’s medical facility and became disruptive. Inmate Price was attempting to move a gurney from the trauma area to another area of the facility. When officers attempted to stop Price, the Inmate attacked the officers using his fists. Officers were able to stop the attack using physical force. Staff were treated and released from the local hospital.

Later it was discovered one officer sustained a concussion from Inmate Price’s attack. A concussion meets the State of California’s definition of a serious injury.

Price was rehoused to the Restricted Housing Unit.
