The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) released the May 2025 incident report numbers. The numbers confirm what every CDCR officer already knew, the staff attacks have been increasing.
Most egregious was 53 reported gassings on staff members in May, this us up from 32 the previous month. Gassings are when inmates attack staff with bodily fluids and is one of the most stressful aspects of being a correctional officer.
