Male Inmate Charged with Rape in Women’s Prison

California has some very woke policies regarding how inmates are housed. A male inmate, with the intent of raping females, is allowed to transfer to a female prison. Most of the staff in CDCR know this happens but can’t go against the woke politics.

One recent case of male on female rape in a woman’s only prison did catch the eye of the Madera County District Attorney’s office. Tremaine Carroll (a male inmate) raped his cellmate and another victim just a few days after being housed in the same cell as his victim. These rapes occurred at the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF).

Before California passed SB 132, “The Transgender Respect, Agency, and Dignity Act”, the law already allowed males who had surgery, and were deemed to not pose a “management and security risk”, to request housing in women’s facilities. However, the law did not allow men with penises, or those who were considered too dangerous, to be housed with women, regardless of gender identity. That all changed when California passed SB 132; this woke policy went into effect in 2021.

After serving about twenty years of his sentence, Carroll began identifying as a woman and seeking transfer to a women’s facility shortly before SB 132 went into effect. The law was intended to facilitate the transfer of male inmates like Carroll, who had penises and did not meet security standards for “gender identity” based housing in the women’s prison.

Carroll is just one of the many dangerous men with whom the women in California prisons are now forced to live It is important to know about 33% of the males who request transfer to women’s prisons are convicted sex offenders. Although Carroll’s convictions of kidnapping include rape charges, California politics did not allow Carroll to be considered a “sex offender”.

Amie Ichikawa, Executive Director of Woman II Woman, revealed that there are now 16 pregnant women housed at California Institution for Women (CIW), another one of California’s women’s prisons. Although CDCR is not transparent regarding the activities and crimes in its prisons, records confirm at least one woman became pregnant at CCWF where Carroll is housed.

SB 132 is being challenged by four women who have already experienced harm from this policy: Janine Chandler, Krystal Gonzales, Tomiekia Johnson, and Nadia Romero, who are represented by the Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF).
