Inmate Christopher Leong died after being pinned to the ground by officers at CSP-Sac. The inmate charged and hit correctional officers who were responding to a disturbance on April 12, at 0655. Officers first tried to put him into physical restraints but then pinned him to the ground after he lashed out and spit at officers,
Inmate Leong lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Despite medical aid being immediately provided and paramedics called, Leong was pronounced dead at 0750 hours.
The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is investigating his death along with CDCR investigators.
