Texas Department of Criminal Justice invests $3 million in new safety equipment for correctional officers

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) has allocated approximately $3 million for new equipment aimed at enhancing the safety of correctional officers statewide.

The investment includes gloves, flashlights, redesigned thrust vests, and air vests. Additionally, TDCJ is deploying body cameras and tasers to 23 maximum security facilities, according to a press release from the department. The agency plans to continue evaluating survey responses for further equipment upgrades.
