California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Investigate Deadly Force Incident in Anaheim

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported that the Orange County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a suspected fugitive that involved two peace officers from CDCR.

At approximately 1:30 P.M. on August 9, 2024, peace officers fired their weapons during a joint law enforcement operation in Anaheim, CA. No law enforcement officials were injured.

CDCR has notified The Office of the Inspector General and CDCR’s Office of Internal Affairs. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will be the lead agency in this matter.

The two CDCR peace officers involved will be placed on administrative leave consistent with Departmental policy. The officers’ names are being withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
