Kern Valley State Prison inmate attacks several officers

At Kern Valley State Prison, on Wednesday, October 01 at about 1430 hours Inmate Travontae Grays (AV4580) was being informed by an officer to return to his assigned cell. Without provocation Grays punched the officer several times in the face causing the officer to lose focus. Other officers in the area responded and assisted to gain custody of Inmate Grays however even after being secured in handcuffs, Grays continued to fight with officers and resisted attempts to be escorted. Eventually Grays became compliant.

Two officers were transported to an outside hospital for medical treatment from Grays’ attack.

Just about every day multiple California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation staff are attacked by inmates. We appreciate the many reports but can only post the more serious incidents.
