On July 17, at about 1800 hours, Inmate Christian (BB8099) attempted to murder a correctional officer at Mule Creek State Prison. Christian ran towards officer and despite several orders to stop, the inmate grabbed the officer and attempted to throw him over the railing of the second tier of the housing unit.

Specifically, officers were on the second tier of the housing unit when Inmate Christian began running at an officer assisting with securing the doors. Christian continued to advance towards the officer as the officer shouted several orders to stop until Christian reached the officer, lowered his body, and wrapped his arms around the officer’s legs. Christian attempted to pick up the officer and throw him over the railing when several other officers arrived and subdued the inmate.

No serious injuries were reported and Inmate Christian was rehoused into the Restricted Housing Unit.

  1. Facts. CDCR should be able to allow communication between Officers and Management. Current policy says Officers may not speak about the CDCR on or off duty, via social media. Create a portal for Officers to submit suggestions. The CDCR should seriously consider current tactical plans. Jujitsu should be seriously considered. Code 1 response teams should have a designated officer with leg irons. Gang Management is paramount. All Officers Sergeant’s and Lieutenant’s should be trained on Incident Management, including writing and completing all reports and graded. Time to really get control over the trouble makers and display leadership , professionalism and regain confidence in our CDCR.
