On November 19, 2025, at the California State Prison, Los Angeles County an inmate battered several officers and knocked one officer unconscious.
At about 1730 hours, Inmate Bodhi Tree was observed fighting with another inmate in the dayroom of a housing unit. Staff called for backup and used pepper spray to stop the attack. The other inmate stopped and assumed a prone position on the floor, but Tree refused. Although one officer was pointing a pepper spray device at Tree and yelling orders to stop, Tree ran towards the officer and started punching the officer in the face. The officer lost consciousness and fell down on the floor. While on the floor, Inmate Tree continued to hit the officer.
Other responding officers were able to get Inmate Tree into handcuffs and he was rehoused into the restrictive housing unit. One additional officer received injuries during the incident. Both injured officers were transported to an outside hospital.
