Approximately 61 inmates were involved in a riot at California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Staff used non-lethal force to quell the incident. Upon gaining compliance, seven inmates were transported to an outside medical facility for a higher level of care. Eighteen inmate-manufactured weapons were discovered at the scene. No staff were injured.
