On December 1, at approximately 1930 hours there was an inmate riot in a recreational dayroom at the California State Prison, Sacramento. This riot was on a Level IV, General Population Facility. Staff were able to identify approximately 15 inmates fighting each other as some of the inmates retrieved inmate-manufactured weapons to begin stabbing others.
Responding staff utilized a 40mm less-lethal round to quell the incident. Several inmates, at least four, were found to have puncture wounds requiring emergency medical attention. A search of the area only recovered two inmate-manufactured weapons. There were no staff injuries.
