Inmate uses pen as weapon to attack Officer at the California Health Care Facility

On November 7, at about 1545 hours, a California Health Care Facility Inmate battered an officer using a pen as a deadly weapon.

Inmate Christopher Bray (AM4456) was being escorted back to his cell by an officer. Bray slipped his handcuffs, which the officer noted and ordered Bray to stop his actions. Bray did not comply and used his fists to strike at the officer. The officer acted quickly to stop the attack, landing Inmate Bray on the floor where Bray retrieved a pen.

Inmate Bray used the pen, swinging in a stabbing motion, striking the officer in the triceps area. Responding officers were able to use physical force to stop Bray’s attack and return him to handcuffs.

Bray was rehoused into the Restrictive Housing Unit. The officer received minor injuries. The pen, used as a weapon, was recovered and processed as evidence.
