At Mule Creek State Prison, on Monday, October 13, at about 2100 hours, officers were attempting to order all inmates back to their assigned housing. One inmate, Kevin Stribling (AL7404) refused to return to his cell. When given direct orders to go back to his cell, Stribling attempted to attack an officer. The officer quickly used pepper spray to stop Stribling’s attack, but the inmate was not done. Stribling moved away from that officer and attempted to attack another officer, this time Stribling produced an inmate-manufactured weapon from his waistline. The officer used several strikes from his baton to stop Stribling’s attack.
Seeing this attack in the housing unit, other inmates also became non-compliant refusing orders to get down by officers. Officers acted quickly to mitigate these other inmates who were also yelling to other inmates to attack staff. One inmate, Robert Campbell (BS4914) even started approaching staff making threatening statements and gestures towards officers until pepper spray was needed to stop Campbell’s attack.
No officers were seriously injured.
