Approximately 70 inmates were involved in a riot at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
Staff immediately responded, using chemical agents, non-lethal force, and warning shots to quell the incident. Upon gaining compliance, one inmate was transported to an outside medical facility for a higher level of care. Fourteen improvised weapons were discovered at the scene. No staff were injured.
