November 2025 update on CDCR inmate violence against staff

Inmates of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) attack correctional officers and prison staff at an alarming rate. CDCR does its best to ignore the inmate attacks on staff members. The Toughest Beat will continue to report on what CDCR attempts to hide.

The November 2025 data has been released today with a total of 327 inmate attacks on staff for the month.

Interestingly this includes an decrease of overall staff attacks from the previous month but an increase of inmates gassing staff. November had 37 recorded incidents of inmates gassing staff members. (Gassing is an aggravated battery where an inmate throws bodily fluids on a staff member.)

Below is a chart showing the prison population and the recorded staff attacks as a percentage of population:

We at The Toughest Beat will do our best to ensure the public knows about the violence CDCR has been allowing in the California prison system. Stay safe out there and watch your partner’s 6.
