On Saturday, July 26, a Mule Creek State Prison Officer was attacked by an inmate with a deadly weapon. At about 2000 hours, a housing unit officer observed Inmate Drake Loza (BP4801) taking something unusual from another inmate’s cell. When the officer attempted to search Loza, the inmate ran away from the officer to another part of the housing unit. The officer followed Loza fearing the inmate had contraband on his person.
When the officer reached Loza, the inmate began to resist the officer’s attempt to handcuff the inmate. Loza attempted to strike the officer in the face with an inmate-manufactured weapon. Other officers responded to help subdue the resisting inmate and at least one other officer was attacked and stuck multiple times by Loza. The housing unit officer was able to use physical force to avoid being stabbed by Loza and the responding staff ultimately was able to restrain the inmate.
One inmate-manufactured weapon was recovered. Inmate Loza was rehoused to the Restrictive Housing Unit. No staff was seriously injured.

Start giving these garbage bags the fullest extent of the law punishment.
