On Friday, August 8, officers at Folsom State Prison were attacked by inmates. Several officers were seriously injured from the attack.
At about 2030 hours, two officers approached the cell occupied by Inmates Derrick Brown (F84597) and Damien Blocker (BI1690) to conduct a routine cell search.
While performing a clothed body search of Brown, the inmate, without any provocation, began punching and kicking the officers. Brown continued his attack as other officers responded, and Blocker also got involved in the staff attack.
After responding officers were finally able to stop the attack by Brown and Blocker, both inmates were evaluated by medical staff noting no serious injuries.
Several of the responding officers were transported off site due to injuries sustained by Brown and Blocker. One officer ended up with a fractured arm and another had sustained a concussion.
Both Inmates Brown and Blocker were rehoused into the Restricted Housing Unit.
